Description:
Another extremely rare garnet species characterized by its contents in zircon. It received its name in honour of the Kimzey family, owners for generations of the mine where it was discovered and where our specimen comes from. As with schorlomite it appears covering cracks in magmatic rocks poor in silicate. It normally appears as a brown massive form. Our specimen, however, appears well crystallized. |
