Description:
Amongst the chrysoberyls there such valuable and important gems as alexandrite and "cat's eye" or cymophane. It is therefore one of the most important gems. An interesting feature of its crystals are the cyclic twins called trillings. Although chrysoberyl is one of the hardest gems, which allows to maintain its integrity, corundum is even harder. The "coexistence" of these two gems in the gem-bearing gravel of Sri Lanka has rounded the ridges of this specimen. |
